Drywall Finishing & Taping
Taping, Mudding and Sanding to a Paint-Ready Surface
Finishing is where drywall becomes a wall. Tape embedded in the right amount of mud, three coats feathered progressively wider, and sanding that levels without scuffing the paper — done well, you never see a seam again. Done in a hurry, you see every one the first time sunlight rakes the surface.

- Three-coat taping
Bed coat with tape embedded, fill coat, and a wide finish coat — each allowed to dry fully instead of being rushed into the next.
- Corner bead and detail work
Straight, crack-resistant corners on outside edges, cleanly coated inside corners, and tidy transitions at windows and ceilings.
- Level 4 and Level 5 finishes
Standard Level 4 for most painted walls; full skim-coat Level 5 where gloss paint or strong side lighting demands a flawless plane.
- Dust-controlled sanding
Vacuum-assisted sanding and containment, so finishing week doesn’t coat the rest of your house in white dust.

Drywall Finishing & Taping — Common Questions
What is a Level 5 finish and do I need it?
Level 5 adds a full skim coat over the entire surface after standard taping. It’s worth it under gloss or dark paint, or on walls washed by window light — conditions that telegraph every tiny imperfection. For most rooms, a well-executed Level 4 is right.
How long does taping and finishing take?
Typically three to five working days for an average project, because each coat has to dry before the next. Quick-set compounds can compress that where the schedule demands it — we’ll tell you the honest trade-offs.
Can you finish drywall someone else hung?
Yes, and we do it often. We’ll flag any hanging problems — proud fasteners, gaps, unsupported edges — before finishing over them, so you’re not paying us to bury a defect.

Junior and his crew were great to work with on our office redesign. They got us our estimate same day and gave a great price. The hardworking crew got the job done faster than I expected, and it also came out perfectly. We will be using him and his team again in the future.
I hired Home Drywall and Painting to finish my three-car garage starting from bare studs, and they did an outstanding job. They handled insulation, full sheetrock installation, mudding and taping, and painting — all in-house. What normally would take multiple contractors was completed by one company, which made the process smooth and efficient.
After my first contractor jerked me around for 2 weeks with excuses, the team at Home Drywall & Painting became my Plan B. Jessica took my call, sent me a proposal and had me booked next day. Adam had his team dispatched and they finished in about 3.5 hours. They had one hiccup during install, but they resolved the issue and made it right. Everyone was respectful and polite. The end price was exactly what I was quoted. Happy to recommend.
They were very respectful of our home and our schedule, did an absolutely beautiful job — and communicated daily about what to expect. A plumbing water damage mishap to our finished lower level meant repairing the entire ceiling: skim, sand, re-texture, paint — plus removal and reinstallation of ceiling fans, a chandelier, can lights, speakers and vents. Gerid and the Home Drywall team also offered a very competitive price.
